Wildlife Wales Nature Activities
Beach Supper – a unique opportunity to taste the adventure and thrill of foraging through the landscape, seashore, dunes and woodlands to select, collect, prepare and cook your supper. You will be led by Brian, learning how to identify edible vegetation, roughage, seafood and more from around Llandanwg, Llanfair and the seashore. On completion of the foraging and preparation you will be offered the opportunity of cooking you supper, on the beach, weather permitting, before enjoying the tantalising flavours as a reward for your labours.
Wildlife Walks – a guided walk and talk viewing some of the fantastic local nature in and around Llandanwg. Strolling through the fields and along the shoreline you will be able to see, hear and smell some of the natural beauty that Llandanwg and Wales has to offer. Optical equipment is available to enhance this experience ensuring you have an up-close and personal connection with our wildlife, without disturbing them in their natural habitat. Time approximately 2 hours.
Rock-pooling – a great learning experience for all the family, by the end of the 2 hours your sea-life tank will be breaming with colourful sea creatures, large and small, that you will have safely netted in the excellent rock-pools down on Llandanwg beach. The children will have a fun time learning about these sea creatures and the important contribution they make to our seashore. The nets and sea tanks are provided, this is a ‘wet’ activity and children and parents should be dressed appropriately.
Fly-Fishing – have you ever tried it? Enjoy the experience of fly fishing for wild trout in pristine mountain lakes on our doorstep. Your senses and new learnt skills will be tested, teasing the trout and their fellow fish friends, as you look to hook ‘the one that got away‘. The whole experience is made more informative as Brian explains the different fly’s and equipment used to ensure that you have a memorable experience in the lakes of the Rhinog Mountains.
